We will start by analyzing posts on Twitter by young people in Brazil, Mozambique and Portugal on the environment and climate change in portuguese. Some of these users will then be invited to respond to a survey on moral values and the environment. Then, focus groups will also be held with young people between 18 and 25 years old, seeking to understand whether and how the results of the previous stages remain under debate. Finally, we will held a debate between some of the participants on the focus groups from the three countries to compare how they approach climate change.
In the methodology of this project, we use the Model of Intuitive Morality and Exemplars (MIME) (Tamborini and Weber. 2020) and the Moral Foundations Questionnaire – MFQ (Graham et al., 2011) – which we applied and adapted, in a pioneering way, to environmental issues.
